Dear Walter,

I arrived in California a week ago, after spending several weeks
working with Risset in Marseille, greeted by marvelously warm and
sunny weather.  Our project here is slowly coming together; we have
money from the government and now must find some private funds as well.

When I returned to Berlin at the end of March, Annie told me that she had
talked to you just before your departure (I hope that your trip was
fruitful and relaxing).  As I remember, she said that there is the possibility
of a course in Berlin, but at the end of the summer rather than in July.
Now, I will tell you our schedule so that you can make plans:  we have
Boulez and his team from Paris coming here for a seminar on computers from
July 30 until August 12, and we must be here for the beginning of the
school year on September 29.  Therefore, some time from mid August until the end of
September is when we would be able to come to Berlin.

Let me know if the course is still in your plans or would you prefer to plan
it for the following summer?  If this year, is the period I have indicated
above possible from your point of view?
